The Tanita BC-731 scale is a compact body composition monitor with bioimpedance analysis that measures body composition by sending a safe, low-frequency signal throughout the body from the four electrodes on the base of the scale. This signal travels through the fluid in muscle tissue but encounters resistance from fat tissue. This resistance, called Bioimpedance, is measured accurately, and its results are compared based on the person's sex, height, and weight to calculate a personalized body fat percentage and body composition reading.
